What PRISM is – And What is NOT

PRISM is not a traditional “CCTV” system. It is not viewed in real time, not monitored 24/7, and never operates as a blanket surveillance solution.
Instead, PRISM is a consent-based system grounded in Best Interests Decision-making.
Consent is obtained either directly from individuals with capacity or through a person-centred care needs assessment. Where necessary, decisions are supported by a Health & Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney, Deputyship, or under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) framework.

PRISM adheres to the UK Human Rights Act 1998, utilising proportionate reviewing in respect to Article 8 the qualified right to respect for private and family life while upholding the right of Article 3, the absolute right to freedom from inhuman or degrading treatment.

Consent or Best Interests Decisions can include unrestricted reviewing or specific limitations, such as excluding certain care activities, restricting review times, or applying redacted zones within footage.

IT & Security Standards

PRISM is Cyber Essentials Plus certified and fully compliant with UK Data Protection legislation. In this framework, the care provider acts as the Data Controller, while Care Protect serves as the Data Processor.
For enhanced security, PRISM uses hard-wired cameras rather than Wi-Fi, and all data is protected with double-end banking-grade encryption. Footage is stored off-site using AWS cloud infrastructure, which is ISO 27001 accredited. A secure file-sharing system is used for footage delivery.
Recordings are motion-triggered only, and no cameras are installed in en suite or bathroom areas. Data is routinely stored for 30 days before automatic deletion, while submitted incident data is retained for a period of up to one year to support any ongoing regulatory investigations or legal processes.
PRISM also supports the migration of pre-existing CCTV systems.
